Bilingual Spanish Answering

Spanish-Speaking Callers Get a Dispatcher, Not a Hold Song

Tow Deputy switches to Spanish automatically for Spanish-speaking callers and runs the same towing intake — vehicle, location, your rate card, then a booked job or a human transfer. Multi-language support is on Starter at $99/mo.

What Bilingual Answering Is

A bilingual Spanish answering service for a towing company is not a voicemail in two languages. It is an AI towing receptionist that hears Spanish, stays in Spanish, and still quotes your hook-up and miles. Automatic Spanish is part of Total Call Control: 12+ voices, a custom menu if you want one, and FAQs you teach. Multi-language is on Starter. You do not wait for Growth to stop losing Spanish-language rings.

Shops in Texas, California, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada already know the pattern: a caller who cannot finish intake in English either hangs up or gets a bad address. We are not publishing a percentage we did not measure. The operational fact is simpler. According to TheKeyBot, 85% of emergency callers will not leave a voicemail. If the only person who speaks Spanish is on a hook, that call is gone. Operators report a local job around $150. That is the cost of “please hold for someone who speaks Spanish” at 1 AM.

Starter is $99/mo (290 calls) with night-time alerts, multi-language, and SMS and app summaries. Growth is $199/mo and adds Smart Deposits. There is no free plan. Both include a 14-day free trial. Read bilingual towing dispatch for Spanish-speaking callers and the Spanish product page at /es/.

How It Works

  1. The AI answers in under two seconds. If the caller is speaking Spanish, it continues in Spanish. No “press 9 for Spanish” unless you add that key on purpose.
  2. Intake is the same job: year, make, model, drivetrain, problem, keys, lane blocked, pickup and drop-off. Location Intelligence still has to resolve “el Walmart de Broadway.”
  3. The Smart Pricing Engine quotes your card. Numbers are numbers. The sentence around them is Spanish.
  4. On Growth, a deposit SMS link can still go out. The driver alert is structured English-friendly fields plus the recording if you need it.
  5. If the call is a city-contract official, a motor club, or someone who asks for a person, your menu and routing still transfer.

Worked Example (Sample Spanish Call)

Example only. Caller at 11:40 PM, Spanish, pickup described as the Walmart on a named boulevard 11 miles from an example yard. Sample card: $50 hook-up inside 10 miles, $100 at 15, $3.50/mi, $25 night surcharge. Vehicle is a work van, keys, not an accident.

Step What happens Example number
LanguageAutomatic Spanish — no hold, no callback
PickupLandmark resolved; 11 mi from yardOuter zone hook-up $100
Mileage11 × $3.50$38.50
NightInside your night hours$25.00
Quoted totalSpoken in Spanish$163.50
If they bookSMS + app to the driver; you wake only if your night rule says soJob created

Without bilingual answering, that caller often gets English only, says “no English,” and dials the next listing. You never hear the $163.50 job. With it, the quote is the same card you would have given in English. The language was the barrier, not the rate.

Teach storage-lot hours, cash-versus-card, and “we do not do motor club” in the FAQ list so the Spanish path does not invent a policy. Voices and speed are adjustable. Pick one that sounds like a person on a wrecker lot, not a bank IVR.

Settings You Control

What It Does Not Do

Automatic Spanish is not a certified interpreter for a courtroom or a hospital discharge. It is towing intake. Distressed accident scenes and complex negotiations still escalate. It does not claim every dialect or every slang term on a dark shoulder. If the AI is lost, transfer. It does not hire a Spanish-speaking driver. The truck is still your staffing problem.

It does not sync the job into Towbook or Omadi. You enter it from SMS and the dashboard. Native two-way sync is on the roadmap and is not built yet. And we will not invent census percentages for your county. If Spanish calls matter on your lot, this feature is how the phone handles them at $99/mo instead of a second night dispatcher — a role that averages about $48,447 a year according to Salary.com.

Spanish Answering FAQs

Does Tow Deputy answer towing calls in Spanish?

Yes. The AI switches to Spanish automatically for Spanish-speaking callers and runs the same intake: vehicle, location, quote from your rate card, then a job, an escalate, or an ended call. Multi-language support is on Starter at $99/mo. You do not buy a second line or a night bilingual dispatcher to cover it.

Is bilingual answering only on the Growth plan?

No. Multi-language support is on Starter ($99/mo, 290 calls) and Growth ($199/mo, 590 calls), along with night-time alerts and SMS and app summaries. Smart Deposits are Growth and above. There is no free plan. Starter and Growth include a 14-day free trial. Extra calls are $0.30 each or $30 per 100.

Will the quote and the driver text still be usable if the call was in Spanish?

The job that lands on SMS and the dashboard is structured intake — vehicle, drivetrain, pickup, drop-off, quoted total — not a raw recording you have to translate at 2 AM. Recordings and transcripts are still there if you need to review the call. The driver does not have to speak Spanish to roll on a completed job.

Can I put a Spanish option on the phone menu?

Automatic Spanish is the default path when the caller is speaking Spanish. You can also build a press-a-key menu — including a human transfer — if you want an explicit language or “press 1 for a person” choice. Teach FAQs and policies in the dashboard so both languages hear your rules, not a generic script.

Do you have a Spanish website for my customers?

Tow Deputy’s own Spanish homepage is at /es/ for operators who want the product explained in Spanish. That page is for you and your bilingual staff, not a consumer “tow my car” site. Pair it with this feature so the phone and the marketing site do not tell two different stories.
