Simple, Pay-As-You-Grow Pricing

Tow Deputy pricing starts at $99/mo for an AI towing dispatcher that answers in under two seconds. Starter and Growth include a 14-day free trial. There is no free plan, no hardware, and no long-term contract.

What you pay

No hardware. No long-term contracts. No surprise overage bills. Start with a 14-day free trial — included on Starter and Growth. On Starter and Growth, extra calls are $0.30 each — or $30 per 100.

Starter is built for a single operator. Growth is the small-fleet plan and the only self-serve tier that includes Smart Deposits. Lead Engine is experimental: you apply by phone. Compare that to hiring a night dispatcher — according to Salary.com, a towing dispatcher averages about $48,447 a year — or to a per-minute answering service that takes a message instead of quoting your card.

What counts as a call

A call is one inbound conversation the AI answers. A tow request, a lockout, an impound FAQ, a junk-car inquiry, or a transfer to a person each count as one call against the monthly allotment. If the same driver calls back ten minutes later, that is a second call. Rings that never connect — hang-ups before pickup — do not count. Simultaneous callers each count; that is the point of not sending the second line to voicemail.

The AI classifies every connected call as Tow Request, Roadside Assistance, or FAQ, then either creates a job (driver alerted by text and app), escalates to a human, or ends the call (spam, wrong number, price-shopper who declines). All three outcomes are still calls you paid the AI to handle.

Overage math

Starter includes 290 calls. Growth includes 590. Extra calls on either plan are $0.30 each, or $30 for a block of 100. The line stays up; we do not cut you off at the cap.

Example Calls Overage Month total
Starter, quiet month 220 $0 $99
Starter, 320 calls (30 over) 320 30 × $0.30 = $9 $108
Starter, buy 100 extras instead up to 390 $30 block $129
Growth, 590 on the nose 590 $0 $199

If you are paying $9–$30 of overage on Starter every month and you also want deposits, move to Growth. Run the same month through the missed-call ROI calculator if you want recovered revenue next to the subscription.

Starter vs Growth: when you need Smart Deposits

Smart Deposits — a secure, PCI-compliant SMS payment link during the call, paid into your own Stripe account — is on the Growth plan and above. Starter answers, quotes, and texts the job. It does not collect money on the call.

Stay on Starter if you are a one-truck shop, your no-show rate is tolerable, and 290 answered calls covers the month. Move to Growth if you run a small fleet, you lose long-distance rolls, or you want a deposit as a percentage (or only on long-distance) before the truck leaves. That flow is spelled out under how towing deposits are collected by SMS. Optional pay-now discount and optional pass-through of card fees are dashboard settings, not a different SKU.

What $99 sits next to

Two comparisons operators actually run: a hired dispatcher, and a human answering service billed by the minute.

Vs. a $48,447 dispatcher salary

According to Salary.com’s towing dispatcher salary in the United States, the average is about $48,447 a year — roughly $23/hour — before overtime, nights, and a second body for 24/7. Starter is $1,188 a year. Growth is $2,388 a year. The AI does not replace judgment on police rotation or a wrecked, screaming caller. It does cover the phone when you are winching, which is where one-truck shops bleed jobs.

Vs. per-minute answering services

A human towing answering service usually bills per minute or per call and takes a message. They do not quote your Smart Pricing Engine rate card or send a deposit link. Flat $99–$199 is the cost model difference; the operational difference is job vs. voicemail-with-a-person. When a human service still wins — motor-club negotiation, heavy distress — we say so on the towing answering service page.

According to TheKeyBot’s 2026 missed-call research, the average inbound service call costs about $119 when you miss it, and 85% of emergency callers will not leave a voicemail — they dial the next listing in about 90 seconds. Operators on this site report about 30% more calls serviced per shift, with an average local job around $150. Those are the numbers behind “is $99 cheaper than voicemail,” not a made-up ROI badge.

Pricing FAQs

What’s included in the 14-day free trial?

Starter and Growth both include a 14-day free trial. You get the live AI on a dedicated number or on forwarded calls, your rate card loaded, SMS and app dispatch summaries, and night-time alerts. Growth also includes Smart Deposits during the trial. There is no free plan after day 14 — you pick a paid plan or cancel.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There are no long-term contracts. Cancel before the next billing date and you are not billed again. If you cancel during the 14-day trial on Starter or Growth, you owe nothing for that trial period. Call sales or email [email protected] and we will confirm the stop.

Are there contracts or hardware to buy?

No contracts and no hardware. Tow Deputy is cloud software. Keep your existing phone number with call forwarding, or use a dedicated AI number. Nothing to port, no new desk phones, no on-site install. You are live in under 24 hours after setup.

Do you add taxes or hidden fees?

Published prices are the plan fees: $99, $199, or $3,000 per month, plus extra calls at $0.30 each or $30 per 100 on Starter and Growth. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout depending on your location. Card-network or Stripe processing fees on deposits are separate and optional to pass through. We do not add surprise platform fees.

What happens if I go over my included calls?

On Starter and Growth, extra calls are $0.30 each, or $30 per 100. The AI keeps answering; we do not shut the line off at 290 or 590. If you routinely blow past Starter, Growth’s 590-call allotment is usually cheaper than stacking overage on $99.

Is there a free Tow Deputy plan?

No. There is no free plan. The 14-day free trial on Starter and Growth is the unpaid window. After that you pay $99/mo or $199/mo, or you cancel. Lead Engine is $3,000/mo by application and does not include a self-serve trial.

When do I need Growth instead of Starter?

Choose Growth when you want Smart Deposits — a PCI-compliant SMS pay link during the call into your own Stripe account — or when 290 calls is tight for a small fleet. Starter is built for a single operator who needs the phone answered and a text summary. Deposits sit on Growth and above.

How do I get the Lead Engine plan?

Lead Engine is experimental. It includes the full Growth plan plus 60 jobs per month routed through Tow Deputy. Extra jobs are $29.99. Apply by phone at (615) 430-2081. It is not a self-serve checkout and it is not a free trial.
