J&J Towing & Recovery: Sleep Through Shoppers, Wake for Real Jobs
Jay D., owner-operator at J&J Towing & Recovery, pointed Tow Deputy at the 12 AM–6 AM window. The AI screens the line and only calls him for a confirmed, high-paying job. The published badge is 100% call answer rate.
I set it up specifically for the 12AM–6AM window. I used to wake up to every single call, half of them just price shoppers. Now Tow Deputy screens everything — it collects the info, qualifies the job, and only wakes me up with a call if it's a confirmed, high-paying call. I'm sleeping through the night again and still catching every legitimate job.
Challenge
Overnight is when a one-person shop either answers everything or misses everything. Jay’s challenge, in his words: he used to wake up to every single call between 12 AM and 6 AM, and half of them were price shoppers. There is no city in his review, no truck count, and no date we will invent. The window is the story.
According to TheKeyBot (2026), 85% of emergency callers will not leave a voicemail. Letting the night line dump to a mailbox is how those jobs leave. Waking for every ring is how an owner-operator does not sleep. Both failures are the same phone.
What changed
Jay forwarded after-hours only — the product path documented for after-hours towing answering. Tow Deputy, as an AI towing receptionist, collects the info and qualifies the job. Night-time alerts let an operator choose which jobs wake them (call + SMS) and which wait for morning. Jay’s rule: only a confirmed, high-paying call rings him.
That screening is the opposite of a message service. A human answering service can take a note at 3 AM and still leave the owner to price it at 7. An AI towing dispatcher quotes the card — including night hours you set — before anyone decides to roll. SMS deposits on Growth are available if he wants money before the truck moves; he did not say whether he uses them, so we will not claim he does.
Keep-your-number forwarding can be after-hours only. Live in under 24 hours. If J&J already has Towbook or Omadi, the night job still arrives as SMS plus dashboard; native sync is not built. See the Towbook handoff.
Result
Jay’s published badge is 100% call answer rate. His quote adds the human result: he is sleeping through the night again and still catching every legitimate job. We will not add a revenue figure or a count of shoppers filtered. Those sentences are the result.
The other two operators: Anthony G. at Gorillas Towing (+12 jobs/week while winching) and Eric A. at Ayalas Towing (−90% dispatch overhead, 8 minutes faster). Compare night coverage versus a hire on pricing from $99/mo, or read the AI dispatch evaluation checklist.
